Description: Native to Southeast Asia, the bitter orange tree that provides Petitgrain, Bitter Orange and Neroli now grows throughout the Mediterranean and sub-tropic areas worldwide
Common Uses: used extensively in perfumery and cosmetic preparations
Aromatic Scent: Petitgrain smells like orange blossoms, but less floral, more herbaceous, and with a bitter undertone.
History: Nutmeg was used by the Indians for intestinal disorders, by the Egyptians in embalming and by the Italians during the Plague. In the Middle Ages nutmeg was grated and mixed with lard as an ointment for piles.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Lime, Jasmine, Neroli, Orange, Palmarosa,Rosemary, Sandalwood and Ylang-ylang .
